Phoenix tip #4: Don’t try (or don’t try too hard)

The best things happen when you don’t try.

When you try to be a certain way to please a person or group of people, your vibe can feel forced or inauthentic.

Listen to the music you like. Make the jokes that you like. Be obnoxious in the way you like to be obnoxious.

Embrace who you are.

PS. ‘Don’t Try’ is also the title of the first chapter in one of my favorite books “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” — I read this years ago & enjoyed it. Note: I didn’t necessarily agree with all of the author’s opinions but learned a lot overall.

According to the book, ‘Don’t Try’ was also poet Charles Bukowski’s philosophy of life:

Quote from Charles Bukowski (1963)

“The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” also inspired my writing style. I recommend this book to read for mature audiences!
